Celebrating Community
On Sunday, 2nd November, Graffham Infant School was honoured to host a reception following the special service at St Giles Church, marking 150 years since its rededication.
The service at St Giles was led by The Right Reverend Dr Martin Warner, Bishop of Chichester, who spoke about the importance of preserving and cherishing the history of our church.
The Right Reverend Humphrey Southern, Principal of Ripon College Cuddesdon, also addressed the congregation. His presence was especially meaningful, as Ripon College was founded by Samuel Wilberforce in whose memory our parish church, St Giles, was rebuilt and today remains one of the country’s leading theological institutions.
Further contributions came from our Headteacher, Mr Beckerson, and the Chair of Graffham Parish Council. The Rt. Hon. Andrew Griffith MP for Arundel and South Downs also took part, giving a reading during the service.
Afterwards, guests gathered in the school hall for fizz and canapés, enjoying a time of reflection, conversation, and connection. It was wonderful to see our school play a part in such a historic and meaningful occasion and we were delighted to welcome guests from across the community and beyond as we celebrated this remarkable milestone in the life of our church.
