The Duncton School House Captains play a very active role in creating a positive ethos in the school. At the start of each year, children who want to be a House Captain give a speech to their peers to explain why they think they would be good in the role. Pupils from across the whole school then use this information to vote for which candidate they think should become one of two House Captains for their House.

The House Captain roles are ones of privilege, pride and responsibility. They are more than just a title and badge and require dedication and commitment for an entire year.Each Captain will be different and will contribute an assortment of skills and ideas to the job.

Our house captains:

• Are positive role models and ambassadors for the school
• Are polite and well mannered, and well-presented in uniform and appearance
• Model excellent behaviour, demonstrating our school Christian values.
• Are enthusiastic and committed to the House System at Duncton Junior School.
• Are friendly and positive with all children, especially supporting those in their House.
• Are part of the team of House Captains who work together to achieve success for all.

House Captain role description

• Work with Mr Beckerson and Ms Bassett to organise and lead inter-house competitions and events.  
• Support during parent/carer events and open events to show parents and carers around the building. 
• Assist with front of house duties for school performances to welcome parents and carers.
• Collect and total up House points on a weekly basis and share this with the school.
