Duncton children enjoyed celebrating VE day. In the morning they spent time looking at photographs from 1945, listening to Winston Churchill’s speech and interviews with veterans and their memories of VE Day in 1945.
Thank you so much to Laura (Noah’s Mum) for providing individual brown bags full of food children would have eaten in 1945. There was fruit and vegetables, bread, jam, honey and butter, an Anzac biscuit and raisins. A lucky ladybird and VE Day sticker. This made our picnic very authentic. Noah read a memory about his Great Grandfather who had cooked for soldiers on the battlefield. Thank you to FGD for the cupcakes to help us celebrate. What a spectacular afternoon of remembering.
