Curriculum Intent:

We create a strong inclusive approach to shaping childrens’ logical thinking, problem-solving abilities and mathematical reasoning. We aim to empower our children with strong mathematical skills, critical thinking, and a positive attitude towards mathematics.

Implementation

  • We adapt our mathematical teaching and learning opportunities to cater for all children’s individual learning needs and provide appropriate challenges and support.
  • To develop students’ mathematical proficiency and fluency in number and place value, skills within the 4 operations, fractions, algebra, shape and geometry, measurement, and statistics.
  • To promote problem-solving skills and critical thinking as students tackle mathematical challenges.
  • To build students’ mathematical fluency and confidence, enabling them to apply mathematical concepts in various contexts.
  • To cultivate mathematical reasoning and logical thinking, encouraging students to make connections.
  • To instill the belief that mathematics is a valuable and applicable skill, empowering students to approach mathematical problems with a growth mindset.
  • We prioritise hands-on learning experiences, including manipulatives and practical activities, to enhance childrens’ understanding of abstract mathematical concepts.
